Michael Farmer – Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Farmer is a partner in The Laurel Company, a private equity company. He most recently served as President and CEO of a biotech startup, HandyLab Inc., a microfluidics diagnostics company. Previously, Mr. Farmer was COO of Veridian, one of the world's most advanced cyber security companies with annual revenues of over $800 million. As President and CEO of Infotronics and COO of its parent, American Medical Communications, Houston-based medical communications and information companies, Mr. Farmer brought these $10 million companies to profitability within one year after a six-year history of losses. As start-up President and CEO of Infrasystems, Mr. Farmer was responsible for the successful commercialization of a new technology for converting municipal solid waste into methanol through a gasification process that meets all environmental quality standards. Mr. Farmer also co-founded Age Wave, a firm that consults with Fortune 500 business leaders and government agencies in the challenges and opportunities of the aging of America. He was COO of the Hospital Satellite Network (HSN). As Executive Vice President of Harbridge House, a Boston-based management consulting firm, Mr. Farmer headed up the firm's national health care practice and defense practice.

Tom McMahon – Board of Directors
Mr. McMahon serves as the President & CEO of CUBRC Inc. He has 23 years of experience performing and managing highly diverse Research, Development, Testing and Integration programs and businesses focused on developing technologies and systems in the areas of Chemical and Biological Defense, Medical Biotechnology, Information Fusion, Public Health and Safety, International Security and Hypersonics. CUBRC’s research, development and integration programs span from the earliest, cutting-edge research to large development, integration, and deployment efforts. As the President & CEO, Mr McMahon is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the company’s market analyses, strategic plan development, financial planning, new business development, operations management (personnel, processes and laboratory facilities), and financial performance; he is ultimately responsible for all aspects of CUBRC’s businesses. Since being elected to lead CUBRC in 1998, CUBRC’s employee base has increased twenty-fold from 4 to 80, and Revenues have increased at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate of 22% from $4.5M to an estimated $24M in 2006. Mr. McMahon joined the Akonni Board in 2005.

Chuck Parrish – Board of Directors
Mr. Parrish, formally co-founder and executive vice president of Phone.com (PHCM) (now Openwave Systems, Inc. (OPWV)) in Redwood City, California, is now a private investor and advisor to several technology companies. Before co-founding Openwave, Mr. Parrish was vice president of marketing and general manager of Mobile Data for GTE Mobile Communications (now Verizon (VZ)). Prior to that, he was senior vice president of operations at Contel Cellular, Inc. and co-founder and CEO of AmeriCom Corporation in Atlanta.

Mr. Parrish also served as chief of staff in the Department of Interior during the Carter Administration, Carter/Mondale Texas campaign manager during the 1976 general election and national field director during the 1979-1980 Carter/Mondale primary campaign. Mr. Parrish served as a division director in the Georgia Department of Natural Resources under Governors Jimmy Carter and George Busbee.

Mr. Parrish Chairs the Board of the Family Independence Initiative in Oakland, CA and is a member of the Boards of Novarra, Inc. in Itasca Illinois, the Corporation for Enterprise Development in Washington, DC, and the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation in Palo Alto, CA. Mr. Parrish is married with two grown children and splits his time between San Francisco, CA, Martha’s Vineyard, MA and Sarasota, FL.

Charles Daitch Ph.D. – Board of Directors
Dr. Daitch has 20 years experience encompassing a broad range of disciplines including chemistry, biology, biosensors and chemical/biological defense. He directs multidisciplinary teams of scientists focused on the development of infectious disease diagnostic tools that implement novel sample preparation, molecular recognition and optical based detection technologies. Dr. Daitch has significant experience in sensor system product development employing: 1) automated miniaturized biomolecule purification and signal amplification in complex samples, and 2) integration of microfabricated components such as: microarrays, thermal electric control, mircofluidic fluid flow, and electro-optical detection. He brings strong product development and R&D experience from the NIH/FDA, the USDA, and Sandia National Labs. Dr. Daitch was recruited by HandyLab Inc., a microfluidics diagnostics company, to serve on the executive management team as Vice President of R&D. In this role, he assisted in strategic planning, business alliances and agreements, and R&D collaborations. Prior, Dr. Daitch launched a biodefense R&D business unit for Veridian Corporation, a premier defense contractor, and led the growth of the operation to 24 employees and $5M in annual revenue. He has 4 U.S. patents, 17 peer reviewed publications and served as principle investigator on over $12 million in government grants and contracts.
